Guided e-bike rides to improve mental and physical health.

Delivering our key aims of improving mental and physical health, raising self-esteem and increasing confidence, Cycling Minds operates a fully funded programme of supported e-bike rides on the quiet country lanes around Hexham.

E-bikes enable people of all fitness levels to explore the stunning countryside, without anyone being left behind.

The social aspects of the ride are important to both us and the participants. We always include a stop either at a cafe or as a picnic.

Participants must be over 18 years old and able to ride a bike. Additionally, we are pleased to make arrangements for support workers to join us on our rides.

We fully fund all of our bike rides, which means that we rely upon the support of funders and the generosity of the community. It is easy to make a donation to Cycling Minds - just follow this link. We are very grateful for any contribution you are able to give.

We also welcome your support via our Easyfundraising page

“..after being diagnosed with ME I’ve been going out with Cycling Minds for a couple of months now. I have found this to be beneficial for both my physical and mental health. The groups have been small, and I’ve always felt safe during all our rides” Ride participant

What do we provide?

Our supported e-bike rides take place between March and October. Included with the ride are:

 E-bikes and helmets

 Assistance and help if required

Experienced (and first aid trained) ride leaders

The safety of our participants is paramount: all rides are risk-assessed. We also check in with participants about their suitability for the programme before they ride with us. We then offer them a “Taster” session to show them how to use the e-bikes and include some fun activities to assess their proficiency riding a bike.

For more information about how to join Cycling Minds, or if you would like to know more, please call 01434 605253 or contact us via email.

If you are an organisation and would like to speak to us about referring participants to us or if we have contacted you to be a referring professional, please call or text Jo or Beth on 07826 620361 during normal working hours, or alternatively, send us an email.

Volunteering

As with the other services which form part of The Hextol Foundation, the Cycling Minds  team of volunteers is always happy to hear from prospective new ride leaders!
